Friday Musings: I Spy…a Poacher?

Forgive the poor quality of photo. Fearful of discovery by delusional and potentially dangerous fisherman, it was taken on the run.

T
his week, I bring you the 3rd installment of “I spy month.” (But on Friday, not the weekend! Weekend Musings has moved to arguably the best day of the week).

Again, the following real-life scenario was captured as I was going about my business.

What exactly was happening? I’ll share my thoughts and then let you be the judge.

Forgive the poor quality of photo. Fearful of discovery by delusional and potentially dangerous fisherman, I took it on the run.

Location: Park in East Dallas

Character Present: Middle-aged male, ostensibly a fisherman

Clues: Fishing pole suggests desire to catch fish, yet absence of water indicates improbability of achieving said goal. Close proximity of truck to field provides for quick getaway in case of hooking man-eating creature or attempted apprehension by park rangers for violation of fishing laws.

Possible Conclusions: Fisherman suffers from delusion that there are, in fact, man-eating subterranean creatures swimming beneath him which have recently been deemed endangered.

Desirous of a trophy killing, yet fearful of apprehension by park rangers, he has decided that successful poaching will be best accomplished in broad daylight and plain sight of other park-goers, so as not to arouse suspicion of illicit activities.

What do you spy?

This is hilarious! I’m cracking up! Possibly practicing his “fishing pole swing??” If that’s what they call it? Otherwise, perhaps he was delusional….

Yes, he probably was just practicing. That’s the most logical conclusion, but logic often escapes me in the moment :) .
