Happy Friday! This lovely morning I’m joining Lisa-Jo and the Five Minute Friday bunch again. Today, everyone’s writing on the topic of red. Will you join me and read, write, or both for five (ish) minutes? Here’s how it works:
- Write for 5 minutes – no editing, no over-thinking, no backtracking.
- Invite others to join in.
- And then: go visit the person who linked up before you and drop them a note!
I don’t use in large doses, but I love it in little punches throughout the house and in what I wear. My Kitchenaid mixer, tea kettle, favorite journal, wallet, old watch–all red.
My beloved old moccasins, also red, used to make me nearly giddy. Truly. I’d look at my feet and just grin.
And when we pulled out my baby moccasins and put them on my daughter? Be still my heart.
As I use my mixer, I think with satisfaction on my color choice. It had been an arduous decision-making process–mint, turquoise, buttercream, or red?! Those Kitchenaid people make some pretty mixers.
But I never regret going with red.
Maybe it’s the unexpected pop of color on an otherwise boring appliance or generally sensible pair of shoes. Or that its vibrancy simply brightens my mood.
You could say that for me, red is a bit of grace amidst the mundane.
So I’ll keep choosing it, not in amounts large enough to tire of it, but just as an accent for my days.
What is a bit of grace amidst the mundane for you?
